Schedule of services for The Holy Week and Easter(Pascha) 2020

Please pay attention to the place and time of worship!

All services except the Communion of the Holy Mysteries of Christ(Holy Eucharist)will be held behind closed doors and will be broadcast online. A link to the broadcast will be posted on the official website of our parish  www.orthodox.is . Communion of the Holy Mysteries of Christ will be performed at the end of each Liturgy in a lively queue in compliance with the security measures prescribed by the Icelandic authorities. We ask you to pay special attention to maintaining a distance of 2 meters, both inside the temple fence and beyond, including between children from different families. Children are allowed only at the time of Communion, while waiting, parents should hold their children by the hand. Parents with children take communion first. There will be no opportunity for confession on this day. 

Filing notes for the Liturgy and putting candles during confession the day before can be done.
Notes can also be sent by e-mail to the parish address:  info@orthodox.is  until midnight on the eve of the Liturgy.

Sunday, April 19

13:00 - 13:30  Communion of the Holy Mysteries of Christ(Holy Eucharist).

13:30 - 14:00 Consecration of eggs, Easter cakes and Easter coils after the Liturgy in the courtyard of the house church of St. Nicholas at  Öldugata 44.

Confession for those who wish to partake of the Liturgies of Holy Week and Easter is performed on Great Wednesday and Great Friday from 17:00 to 20:00, as well as on Great Saturday from 16:00 to 18:00  or, in exceptional situations, at other times by agreement with the priest. Due to time constraints, Confession will be performed  strictly by appointment. You can get an appointment with Olga Pokrovskaya, assistant of the parish priest, by phone + 354-780-03-98.

The time for 1 person is 10 minutes, so please be prepared to confess in advance, given the difference between confession and pastoral conversation. During the confession, it is necessary to use the masks that will be issued in the church.

For confession on Holy Saturday, you can bring eggs, cakes and Easter coils, which will be consecrated in your presence. There you can put candles and write notes on the Liturgy.
